Belgian city’s historic canals turn green after record-hot summer

In a striking visual change, the historic canals of a Belgian city have turned green following an unusually hot summer. This phenomenon has drawn attention from both locals and tourists, highlighting the impact of extreme weather conditions on urban waterways. Experts suggest that the elevated temperatures may have contributed to an increase in algae growth, resulting in the vibrant green hue of the canals. City officials are monitoring the situation closely, as the health of aquatic ecosystems can be affected by such changes. The transformation of the canals serves as a reminder of the broader environmental challenges posed by climate change, prompting discussions on sustainability and water management in urban areas.
