Spain: Madrid protesters mourn evicted pensioner Maricarmen Abascal

In Madrid, a significant protest took place as citizens gathered to mourn the passing of Maricarmen Abascal, a pensioner who was recently evicted from her home. The demonstration highlighted the growing concerns over housing insecurity and the impact of eviction on vulnerable populations, particularly the elderly. Protesters carried banners and chanted slogans, calling for greater protections for tenants and affordable housing solutions. The event served not only as a tribute to Abascal but also as a rallying cry for those affected by similar circumstances. Activists emphasized the need for systemic change in housing policies to prevent further tragedies and ensure that individuals like Abascal are not left without support in their time of need.
